💰 $80,400 - $144,700 per year
About the role
- Lead electro-mechanical product design and/or redesign, part assembly and detailed part drawings
- Lead prototyping, testing, and assembly of samples
- Lead various product design/development projects from concept through production
- Develop and distribute engineering data (Engineering Change Notices, bills of material, parts tracking)
- Partner with manufacturing facilities to resolve part/assembly issues, deviations, and BOM errors; conduct pilot/pre-production runs
- Participate in/lead product delivery stage gate meetings
- Initiate and develop concepts from Project Charters and Specification Matrices and review competitor samples
- Continuously improve processes related to productivity, quality, purchasing and manufacturing; source new processes/equipment/training
- Support Kaizen/LEAN transformation efforts and complete post-Kaizen activities
- Submit test and prototyping requests and engage with testing/model shop as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent in Mechanical Engineering
- 3 to 5 years of experience in mechanical/electro-mechanical design
- Understands engineering fundamentals
- Ability to communicate verbally, in written form and through sketches, and engineering drawings
- Proficient use of 3D CAD (SolidWorks)
- Proficient with PLM software (preferably Windchill)
- Proficient with Microsoft Office
- Proficient in LEAN methodology and practices (standard work, cause & effect, DMAIC)
- Understanding of manufacturing methods (stamping, drawing, casting, extruding of metals and plastics)
- Leadership skills to influence and enlist cooperation of team members
- Knowledge of UL / CSA and testing processes is a plus
- Ability to support pilot/pre-production runs and partner with manufacturing to resolve issues
- Travel: Domestic (USA) and Mexico - up to 10%
- Physical: Medium work – may exert up to 50 pounds occasionally
