About the role

  • New product design, cost reductions, field quality resolution, manufacturing support, and sustaining engineering activities related to Electronics & Light Engines
  • Select electronics and LED components, create firmware solutions for microprocessor-based solutions, LED driver selection, and system controls to provide integrated Light Engine solutions
  • Calculating parameters for Electronics and LED schematic configurations while working with the Optics team to provide correct lumens targets and lumens per watt
  • Developing and distributing engineering data: Engineering Change Notices, bills of material, drawings, PCB design/manufacturing files, test specifications, parts tracking, and all necessary product deliverables for product release and successful factory product launch
  • Managing engineering documentation, ECRs, ECOs, DFMEA, calculations, and drawings using Product Life Management and Financial systems
  • Designing for new product development, product enhancements, cost reductions, and supporting Customers, Acuity factories, and overall supply chain
  • Developing concepts for new products from project charters and specification matrices; ensuring DFx (design for reliability, testability, and manufacturability) compliance before product launches
  • Contributing to Product Development System (PDS) and ensuring designs achieve the Customer Experience Matrix (CEM)
  • Supporting ABS/LEAN Transformation: identifying, leading, participating in Kaizen events, and completing post-Kaizen activities
  • Developing and continuously improving Electronics & Light Engine processes, testing, DFx, and other documentation
  • Submitting photometry/thermal test requests and working directly with the testing group
  • Working with the mechanical design team to ensure samples comply with product CEM and Electronics & Light Engine testing/DFx documentation
  • Reviewing functional specifications, project charters, competitor samples, and testing reports to ensure CEM compliance
  • Completing luminaire product scaling activities and publishing accurate product specifications
  • Partnering with Acuity's factories to resolve component, testing, deviation requests, and bill of material errors to keep manufacturing lines running
