About the role
- The Infection Prevention Officer (IPO) is a specially trained professional responsible for developing and managing a medical clinic's programs to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.
- Creates, implements, and evaluates infection prevention policies based on guidelines from public health organizations.
- Monitors for infections and tracks trends to detect and investigate any potential outbreaks.
- Provides mandatory and ongoing infection prevention training for all staff.
- Conduct routine inspections of the clinic to ensure compliance with health regulations.
- Manages policies that protect healthcare workers from exposure to infectious agents.
- Responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of all privacy laws.
- Maintains professionalism, ethical standards, discretion, candor, privacy and confidentiality.
Requirements
- Graduated from an accredited Nursing school.
- Active and unrestricted RN State License and the ability to be favorably credentialed.
- 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Certified in Infection Control (CIC).
- BLS certification.
- Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
- Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
- Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare management systems (EHR, scheduling, inventory).
- Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, Resided in the US for 3 years in the past 5 years.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
