About the role

  • The Infection Prevention Officer (IPO) is a specially trained professional responsible for developing and managing a medical clinic's programs to prevent and control the spread of infectious diseases.
  • Creates, implements, and evaluates infection prevention policies based on guidelines from public health organizations.
  • Monitors for infections and tracks trends to detect and investigate any potential outbreaks.
  • Provides mandatory and ongoing infection prevention training for all staff.
  • Conduct routine inspections of the clinic to ensure compliance with health regulations.
  • Manages policies that protect healthcare workers from exposure to infectious agents.
  • Responsible for ensuring the integrity and security of all privacy laws.
  • Maintains professionalism, ethical standards, discretion, candor, privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Graduated from an accredited Nursing school.
  • Active and unrestricted RN State License and the ability to be favorably credentialed.
  • 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Certified in Infection Control (CIC).
  • BLS certification.
  • Proficiency with computers and common office equipment, as well as with MS Office products required.
  • Must be able to perform duties in a stressful and high paced environment without physical limitations.
  • Ability to adapt to sudden changes and flexibility in work requirements to include potential shift changes based on operational needs and/or command priorities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and healthcare management systems (EHR, scheduling, inventory).
  • Must be a US citizen or permanent resident, Resided in the US for 3 years in the past 5 years.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized, and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
