About the role
- Lead a team of talented engineers who like to ship code and tackle hard engineering problems
- Drive strict prioritization and delivery management — ensuring your team is focused on high-impact work and delivering predictably

- Share knowledge with team members via mentoring, code reviews, design doc reviews, technical talks, and timely feedback
- Maintain rigor in high code quality, automated testing, and other engineering best practices
- Contribute to and execute on the organization's vision and standards around security, quality, observability, and clean code
- Support legacy and modern services and applications in the public cloud and deploy them through CI/CD practices
- Demonstrate problem solving and technical innovation by staying hands-on — contributing to architecture decisions, reviewing code, and writing code when needed
- Champion AI-first engineering practices — driving adoption of AI tooling and agentic development workflows within your team
- Collaborate closely with Product Managers, UX Designers, other Engineering Managers, and cross-functional teams to ensure we're building great products
- Partner with other engineering teams to identify and evangelize opportunities to improve engineering productivity
- Work closely with the ActiveCampaign People Team to hire high-caliber candidates from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements
- 3+ years of hands-on technical leadership and people management experience
- Strong software development background with experience building and deploying scalable applications in the cloud using CI/CD practices
- Production experience in PHP; Python or Java is a plus
- Solid database experience with SQL, NoSQL, and event streaming technologies
- Proven ability to drive prioritization, delivery cadence, and execution rigor across a team
- Quality-first mindset with experience solving challenging technical problems at scale
- Strong communication skills and customer focus
- Fluent in English (B2 minimum)
- Willingness to work flexible hours with regular afternoon availability to overlap with US Central timezone
