About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Conduct housing stabilization activities to preserve tenancy for families transitioning from supported shelters into permanent housing
  • Conduct at least monthly outreach to families and landlords
  • Mediate client/family and landlord relationships
  • Intervene when tenancy is endangered
  • Advocate for clients/families with housing court
  • Routinely assess evolving client/family needs
  • Assist with medical care connections
  • Monitor family and children’s school progress
  • Document and update stabilization plans in the ETO online platform
  • Document progress with ETO touchpoints
  • Collaborate with case managers and housing navigation liaisons to ensure smooth transitions of family support
  • Support housing initiatives and connect families with appropriate community resources
  • Travel regularly to client locations during designated working hours
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum high school diploma required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of experience providing intensive housing placement services preferred
  • Fluency in Haitian Creole and English required
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus
  • Valid Massachusetts driver’s license required
  • Consistent, reliable transportation and ability to travel throughout Massachusetts during working hours required
  • Experience in emergency and family shelter settings preferred
  • Experience working with recent immigrants to the United States, particularly from Haiti, preferred
  • Highly organized and self-directed, with ability to work under supervision on diverse projects
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for communicating and working with staff and external partners
  • Experience in shelters, social services, or related housing-navigation environments
  • Strong problem identification and resolution-planning skills
  • Ability to collaborate and build trust and respect with project teams and external partners
  • Intermediate computer skills, including Excel, pivot tables, lookup functions, and Microsoft Office
  • High diplomacy in recognizing politically sensitive issues
  • Ability to take initiative and work independently and as part of a team
