About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain solar monitoring platforms and SCADA systems
  • Assist in creating performance reporting
  • Carry out planned maintenance in line with O&M schedules and OEM requirements
  • Manage corrective maintenance on solar PV systems, including panels, inverters, switchgear, combiner boxes and monitoring systems
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical and monitoring faults to minimise downtime and restore system performance
  • Respond to reactive callouts and fault alarms, including breakdowns and system failures
  • Conduct electrical testing and inspection, including IV curve tracing, insulation resistance testing and thermal imaging
  • Manage warranty claims and related activities
  • Uphold Quality, Health, Safety & Environment standards and comply with regulations, method statements and risk assessments
  • Update dynamic RAMS where applicable
  • Maintain accurate service reports, maintenance records and fault logs
  • Issue required service documentation accurately and on time
  • Manage subcontractors and Activ8 employees required to complete tasks
  • Travel regularly across Ireland and spend time away from home to maintain commercial, industrial and utility-scale solar assets

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Electrical and Solar PV O&M experience is preferable
  • Full Clean Driver’s Licence
  • Qualified Electrician (National Craft Certificate or equivalent)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical installation, maintenance or renewable energy
  • Experience working on commercial or industrial electrical systems
  • IPAF / Harness training is essential or a willingness to carry it out; training will be given
  • Working at height
  • Strong understanding of HV, LV and SCADA systems
  • Knowledge of Huawei, Sungrow or SMA inverter systems desirable
  • Experience with CDM regulations and the ability to dynamically amend RAMS preferred but not essential; training will be given
  • Drone License or a willingness to complete
  • Experience with utility-scale solar assets, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or EV charging infrastructure desirable
  • High level of accuracy in reporting documentation
  • Organisation, time management and self-motivation
  • Experience in a fast-paced environment involving problem-solving and communicating with line manager and manufacturer service helplines
  • Excellent written, IT, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Must be willing to work away from home due to asset or issue locations
