Design, develop, and deliver an AI-focused capstone project: either an AI intelligence layer for data contracts (similarity search, lifecycle management, maturity assessment, NLG) or an AI-powered governance coach and gamification engine for data products
Build and integrate AI/ML features into Actian’s Data Product Workbench using Java, Python, and React
Collaborate with customers, partners, and the Bitol open-source community (Linux Foundation) to validate requirements and gather feedback
Participate in sprint ceremonies, code reviews, and design discussions with the product and engineering teams
Present your capstone project and findings at the Internship Showcase in week 12

Requirements

Must be actively enrolled in a college degree program
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Science (junior standing or above preferred)
At least one prior successful internship in software engineering or a related field
Hands-on experience with Claude Code is required
Hands-on experience with Linux deployment is required
Hands-on experience with Java (Springboot), Python, or React; familiarity with AI/ML libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, LangChain) is a plus
Interest in data management, data governance, or open standards (ODCS, ODPS)
Strong communication skills and comfort working with external stakeholders (customers and partners)
