About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform identification and inspection of trees along utility lines
- Document work using handheld computers and GIS-integrated software
- Serve as a liaison between clients, tree crews, and client customers
- Balance safety, budgetary, and community-relations concerns
- Prioritize the safety of yourself and your team
- Work on short-term projects, quick start-ups, storm work, and fill-in positions across Florida
- Travel overnight and extensively within Florida, including assignments lasting 6 to 8 weeks
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2- or 4-year degree in forestry, horticulture, environmental science, or a closely related field, or 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or a related field in lieu of a degree
- High school diploma or GED required, or 5 years of experience in lieu of a high school diploma or GED
- Strong tree identification preferred
- Experience in utility vegetation management preferred
- ISA Certified Arborist preferred but not required
- Pesticide certification preferred but not required
- Able to travel extensively, 6 to 8 weeks at a time
- Able to do overnight travel within Florida
- Valid driver license required
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware preferred
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and dynamic terrain
- Self-motivated, organized, and production oriented
- Comfortable working independently and managing a geographical area for vegetation-related activities
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check
