About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Identify, inspect, and evaluate vegetation and brush along utility lines
- Submit inspection results to clients with recommendations
- Plan, direct, and coordinate assigned clearance crew activities
- Discuss and negotiate line-clearance crew access issues
- Serve as liaison between clients, work crews, and client customers
- Perform real-time crew checks
- Obtain estimates, build schedules, and set up contractor work
- Travel to other areas when necessary
Requirements
What you’ll need- 2- or 4-year degree in Rangeland Management, Forestry, Horticulture, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, or closely related field, or 2 years of experience in Utility Vegetation Management or related field in lieu of a degree
- Vegetation management experience preferred
- Competent computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite
- GIS-integrated data collection software/hardware experience preferred but not required
- Self-motivated, organized, and production-oriented
- Comfortable working independently and managing a geographical area for vegetation-related activities
- Ability to work with stakeholders, utility customers, and line-clearance vendors
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Multitasking and strong time-management skills
- Ability to work in varied terrain and inclement weather with flexible schedules, including nights and weekends as needed
- Ability to hike for lengthy periods to access lines throughout the region
- Valid driver's license required
- Ability to drive long distances in a company vehicle
- Pre-employment drug screening and background check required
