About the role
- Reports to the Operations Manager and directs personnel, staffing, training, planning, and oversees operations and fiscal health of the company
- Manage and maintain workforce health and safety, productivity levels, and staffing to meet financial requirements
- Maintain inventory of tools, equipment and supplies; ensure vehicles, tools, and equipment are clean, safe and in proper working condition
- Develop employee-oriented company culture emphasizing quality, continuous improvement, retention, development and high performance
- Coach, mentor and develop staff, oversee new employee onboarding, and guide personnel to achieve optimum performance
- Follow fleet standards; control maintenance and repair of vehicles; train personnel on safety and accident prevention
- Formulate departmental goals, strategies, operating policies and procedures; prepare department forecast and monitor expenses
- Prepare and maintain records and reports related to meter reading; complete quality control audits on field personnel monthly
- Make recommendations regarding employment, performance appraisals, salary changes, promotions, transfers and terminations
- Provide written communication on operations economy/efficiency, quality control, production/personnel scheduling, and client relationships
- Work with Human Resources to recruit, interview, select, hire, and employ appropriate number of employees
- Refer consumer complaints to appropriate authorities, ensure complaints are resolved timely and train employees on conflict resolution
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- 1+ year of leadership experience in electric, water, and/or gas meter installation management
- Upon hire, candidate must complete and pass all Pipeline Operator Qualification (OQ) training
- Nice to have: Bachelor’s Degree in Operations Management or Business Administration
- Nice to have: 2+ years experience in electric, water, and/or gas meter installation management or similar supervisory role
- Nice to have: 1 year of continuous work with the same employer, and/or 6 or more months working outdoors
- Ability to multi-task and work independently and as a team
- Exceptional flexibility in daily routines and excellent time management skills
- Excellent communication skills; comfortable interacting with management and customers
- Ability to interact with unhappy or negative customers in a professional manner
- Excellent attention to detail for problem solving and finding
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft 360 (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
- Drug/alcohol testing is required (per Non-Regulatory requirements for water/electric meters and Federal DOT for gas meters)
