• Conduct legal research and analysis to support new and active litigation projects
• Aid in drafting of legal memoranda, motions, and briefs
• Provide support and assistance to ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys

Legal Intern, Litigation Department

• The intern will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience by working alongside the team and assisting in factual investigation, and legal research and writing to advance our litigation and integrated advocacy.
• Interns will support CLRP litigation work and integrated advocacy across our priority areas. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Legal research
• Legal writing, such as memos and portions of court submissions
• Fact investigation
• Support in preparation for and during court cases, such as depositions, oral argument, hearings, or trial

Legal Intern, Criminal Law Reform Project

• Interns will have the opportunity to gain valuable experience by working alongside the team assisting in all aspects of litigation, policy advocacy, and communications campaigns.
• Drafting memoranda, affidavits, and briefs
• Conducting legal and policy research
• Researching prospects for new litigation, including both factual and legal claims
• Researching and drafting materials for public education
• Legislative bill tracking and analysis

Legal Intern, Women's Rights Project

• Drafting memoranda, affidavits, and briefs
• Conducting legal and policy research
• Researching prospects for new litigation, including both factual and legal claims
• Researching and drafting materials for public education
• Legislative bill tracking and analysis

Legal Intern, Immigrants' Rights Project

• Conduct legal research and analysis to support new and active litigation projects
• Aid in drafting of legal memoranda, pleadings, affidavits, motions, and briefs
• Draft and edit public education and non-litigation advocacy materials
• Provide support and assistance to ACLU affiliates and cooperating attorneys
• Potential to work closely with clients and participate in outreach with impacted communities, discovery, and trial practice
• Center principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, embedding the values in program development, policy application, and organizational practices and processes

Legal Intern, Center for Liberty

• Conduct legal research and writing including drafting memoranda, portions of briefs, motions, and training resources
• Track cases and issues of interest to the ACDI
• Assist with performing intakes for those who contact the ACDI in need of criminal defense representation
• Center principles of equity, inclusion, and belonging in all work, embedding the values in program development, policy application, and organizational practices and processes
