About the role

  • Lead the strategic vision and roadmap for the design system, aligning with organizational goals around brand strength, consistency, efficiency, and AI enablement.
  • Partner with Product Management and Engineering to prioritize design system initiatives based on team requests, business impact, and technical feasibility.
  • Drive adoption metrics and measure the design system’s impact on team velocity, consistency, and cost reduction.
  • Establish and maintain design tokens, components, patterns, and best practices that scale across brands and products.
  • Create comprehensive usage guidelines, design principles, and implementation details that enable teams and AI tools to leverage the design system effectively.
  • Establish and evolve governance frameworks that balance consistency with product team velocity.
  • Build strong relationships with designers, product managers, and engineers across all business units and facilitate contribution from product teams through clear processes.
  • Ensure accessibility and performance standards are baked into components.
  • Advocate for systems thinking across the organization.
  • Mentor other designers and support their growth through guidance, feedback, and setting an example of best practices.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of product design experience with at least 2 years focused on design systems.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling design systems in organizations with multiple products or brands.
  • Experience managing design system adoption, measuring impact, and driving organizational change.
  • Expert knowledge of design system principles, component architecture, and design tokens.
  • Strong proficiency in Figma, including variables, components, and organizational best practices.
  • Deep understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive design practices.
  • Demonstrate a high bar of quality in both interaction & visual design and strong technical skills.
  • Experience collaborating with engineers on component development and an understanding of HTML, CSS, and component frameworks.
  • Knowledgeable about new technologies and processes within the field of design.
  • Track-record of success working with a variety of cross-functional stakeholders and partners.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to communicate complex interaction concepts clearly and persuasively across different audiences across the organization.
