About the role
- The Software Quality Engineer is responsible for the quality of our software product initiatives in electric power system analysis, visualization, and optimization of electric utility data.
- You will help shape testing strategy and take the initiative to drive quality across the team.
- This role is about breaking things before customers do, catching bugs that others miss, and pushing our products to the limit to make sure they hold up in the real world.
- Set the tone for quality by creating and leading smart, results-driven testing strategies
- Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test plans, test cases, and test scripts for new features and existing functionalities of software products
- Perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, performance, integration, security, and usability testing
- Identify, document, and track software defects using a bug tracking system, working closely with development teams to prioritize and resolve issues
- Collaborate with product managers, developers, and other stakeholders to understand software requirements and use cases
- Drive continuous improvement of testing methodologies
- Develop automated test scripts to improve testing efficiency and coverage
- Participate in design reviews and provide feedback on testability
- Assess and integrate industry best practices and emerging technologies
- Assist in the creation of user documentation and training materials
- Assist with customer support or on-site testing for critical issues as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field
- 2-5 years of experience as a Software Quality Engineer
- Hands-on experience in software product testing
- Solid understanding of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes
- Experience many test types (functional, regression, performance, security, etc.)
- Familiarity with automation testing frameworks and tools
- Proficiency in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Experience with virtualized environments and cloud platforms
