Controller

• Act as a trusted advisor and key partner to clients, understanding their unique business and accounting needs
• Provide strategic leadership in scalable accounting operations, ensuring compliance with internal control systems, policies, and procedures
• Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures; recommend financial tools and benchmarks to enhance operational efficiency
• Prepare and manage client budgets, cash forecasts, and monthly financial reports
• Manage the month-end closing and issue financial reports to all clients, every month
• Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting, contracts and general ledger structure; ensure proper entry into QuickBooks & ICAT
• Identify variances from the budget and report significant variances to client
• Execute regular client conference calls to review strategy, needs, and operational changes
• Assist in gathering tax-related information for external tax return preparation and coordinate audit information for annual audit or review
• Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and review/approve monthly and quarterly tax filings
• Develop client budgets and cash forecasting tools (including KPIs) to support long-term planning
• Monitor budget performance and provide insights into trends, risks, and growth opportunities
• Partner with client senior leadership to analyze financial and operational data and provide actionable recommendations
• Direct a team of virtual accounting professionals to deliver timely and accurate monthly financial reporting packages
• Support, train, motivate and mentor virtual accounting specialists; conduct performance reviews and team meetings
• Use internal documentation system for procedures and enforce internal controls to verify integrity of processes
• Provide strategic guidance and operational decision making to senior leadership; recommend and implement best practices
• Assist with interviewing and onboarding new team members and collaborate with other Senior Controllers on best practices
