About the role

  • Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of Specialty Sales Specialists to consistently achieve sales goals.
  • Hire, coach, onboard, and manage performance of sales team members.
  • Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching and feedback, and complete performance discussions and documentation.
  • Recruit and address performance issues, partnering with HR as needed.
  • Foster a customer-centric, results-driven culture and model strong relationships with key customers and decision makers.
  • Conduct regular in-person field visits to observe sales calls and provide real-time feedback.
  • Collaborate on individualized development plans and partner with Commercial Effectiveness Training for onboarding and continuous skill development.
  • Provide actionable market feedback to Marketing, Market Access, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Develop and execute a regional business plan aligned with national strategy and manage regional budget and ROI.
  • Analyze sales performance and market trends and take corrective action to close gaps and leverage opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable laws.
  • Travel independently, including overnight travel, up to 80% as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required- Business, Life Sciences preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry for Regional Sales Manager; 8 years for Sr. RSM.
  • At least 2 years of sales management experience required for Regional Sales Manager; at least 5 years for Sr. RSM.
  • Neuroscience and specialty sales experience are strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead teams to exceed sales targets, manage performance, and have direct, documented performance discussions.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to influence, inspire, and motivate individuals toward achieving goals.
  • Skilled at verbal and written performance evaluations and formal documentation of employee performance.
  • Business acumen to identify future opportunities and anticipate customer needs.
  • Must live within the boundaries of the assigned region and near a major airport.
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
  • Travel up to 80% of the time and ability to work after hours when required.
