About the role
- Lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of Specialty Sales Specialists to achieve sales goals
- Recruit, hire, and onboard top talent and ensure team members have the skills and resources to succeed
- Set clear performance expectations, provide regular coaching, conduct performance reviews, and document follow-up
- Address performance issues promptly through direct conversations and formal documentation in partnership with HR
- Foster a customer-centric, results-driven culture by modeling strong relationships with key customers and decision makers
- Conduct regular in-person field visits to observe sales calls, evaluate execution, and provide real-time feedback
- Collaborate with Sales Specialists to create and track individualized development plans and partner with Commercial Effectiveness Training
- Provide actionable market feedback to Marketing, Market Access, and other cross-functional teams
- Develop and execute a regional business plan that aligns with national strategy
- Manage regional budget, track ROI, analyze sales performance and market trends, and take corrective action to close gaps
- Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and applicable laws
- Provide leadership and guidance with decisions that impact regional performance and overall company results
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required- Business, Life Sciences preferred
- Regional Sales Manager: minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including sales or relevant cross-functional roles (e.g., marketing, training, market access)
- At least 2 years of sales management experience required for Regional Sales Manager
- Sr. Regional Sales Manager: minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, including sales or relevant cross-functional roles
- At least 5 years of sales management experience required for Sr. Regional Sales Manager
- Neuroscience and specialty sales experience are strongly preferred
- Proven ability to lead teams to exceed sales targets, manage performance, and have direct, documented performance discussions
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
- Ability to influence, inspire, and motivate individuals toward achieving goals
- Skilled at verbal and written performance evaluations and formal documentation of employee performance
- Business acumen to identify future opportunities and anticipate customer needs
- Must live within the boundaries of the assigned region and near a major airport
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record
- Travel up to 80% of the time and work after hours if required by travel schedule or business issues
- Ability to travel independently overnight as required
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds
