About the role
- Provide complex specialist advice and support in practice formulation and associated best practice improvement tactics
- Formulate, update and implement compliance risk management policies and control procedures
- Compile training material and facilitate training of relevant staff
- Monitor instances of non-compliance with the company’s policies and procedures
- Establish a compliance culture and create awareness of compliance through interaction with business
- Assist in managing regulatory relationships
- Provide proactive and responsive advisory support on compliance related matters
- Provide advice to business stakeholders in relation to all conduct risk related policies, standards, and supporting documents
- Attend Business/transaction approval Committees/Forums and provide compliance approval for the transactions and deals presented
- Identify and manage regulatory risks proactively
- Respond timely to ongoing regulatory queries raised by stakeholders
- Review capabilities and compliance for individual transactions and new product launches
- Develop and provide compliance training and awareness to employees
- Report to Head of Compliance, Board, relevant committees, Executive Management, and key stakeholders to manage combined assurance
- Implement and maintain a robust compliance risk management programme
Requirements
- BCom, LLB degree or equivalent
- 10 years’ Compliance, Legal and/or Risk experience in CIB
- Strong understanding of investment banking services and products as well as the regulatory frameworks
- Strong communication skills – both oral and written
- Excellent analytical skills
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to prioritise and work to tight deadlines under pressure
- Pro-active and ability to take initiative
- Ability to make decisions and respond to issues promptly
- Ability and confidence to uphold Compliance positions under pressure
- Team player with ability to work autonomously / independently
- Proficiency in all Microsoft packages and aptitude with IT systems.
