About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Serve as the technical authority and primary technical decision partner in enterprise sales cycles from discovery through close
  • Own Proof of Value success criteria and outcomes
  • Lead architecture-level conversations with security, email, and identity teams
  • Run technical discovery that uncovers risk, not just requirements
  • Conduct technical and competitive landscape research to address customer questions and objections
  • Answer architecture-level and modern threat questions
  • Explain why legacy secure email gateways fail against social engineering and identity-based attacks
  • Educate sales executives and partners on Abnormal Security’s products, platform, and security posture
  • Drive customer satisfaction and successful business outcomes

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 3+ years of Sales Engineering experience OR relevant industry experience
  • Ability to lead technical discovery and architecture discussions with security, infrastructure, identity, and compliance teams
  • Strong technical presentation and communication skills, verbal and written
  • Ability to connect technology to measurable risk reduction and enterprise business outcomes
  • Ability to influence senior security, IT, and executive stakeholders
  • Ability to create value-driven presentations using PowerPoint and Google Slides
  • Strong discovery skills to uncover customer pain points, requirements, and strategic objectives
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-impact sales environment
  • Strong customer focus and ownership of customer results
  • Technical understanding of SaaS security models, including multi-tenant cloud environments
  • Working knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, TLS, and enterprise networking concepts related to email and SaaS security
  • Nice to have: enterprise email security platforms such as Proofpoint, Mimecast, Cisco, or Barracuda
  • Nice to have: Microsoft Exchange Online/Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace
  • Nice to have: SMTP mail flow, MX records, mail routing, SPF, DKIM, DMARC, Azure AD/Entra ID/Google Identity, OAuth, REST APIs, SIEM platforms, SOC workflows, incident response workflows, and security certifications such as CISSP or CEH
