About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute brand strategy and tactics in the field
  • Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
  • Manage the assigned territory and targeted accounts
  • Build strong customer relationships and solve customer needs to maximize short- and long-term sales performance
  • Create pre-call plan objectives and execute post-call evaluations
  • Handle objections, misunderstandings, and concerns, and gain calls to action to close sales calls
  • Serve customer needs, expectations, and challenges to build trusted relationships and achieve win-win agreements
  • Develop and execute call plans to meet call metrics and optimize coverage and frequency for key customers
  • Build understanding of customer needs, territory market landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical matters, and sales practices
  • Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
  • Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with assigned health providers
  • Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
  • Operate within AbbVie’s business code of conduct, policies, and applicable laws and regulations

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or business-related field preferred
  • Relevant and equivalent industry experience required in lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical/health/science industry preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required when using experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
  • Proven track record of leadership success
  • Solid presentation skills
  • Strong business acumen
  • Proficient use of business tools
  • Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
  • Ability to identify customer style/behavior and adapt selling approach quickly
  • Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
  • Commercial pharmaceutical industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
  • In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge preferred
  • English language proficiency verbally and in writing preferred for non-English-speaking countries
  • Must satisfy applicable health care industry representative credentialing requirements and be in good standing and/or eligible to obtain credentials
  • Background checks, drug screens, immunization/vaccination proof, and fingerprinting may be required
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
  • Ability to drive a personal auto, company car or truck, or powered material-handling equipment
