About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain strategic business relationships with oncology departments and practices
- Interact with oncologists, hematologists, pharmacists, nurses, executives, department heads, managers, and support staff
- Increase education on product benefits and risks consistent with approved labeling
- Develop new business, improve resource utilization, and grow sales and market share by achieving the sales plan
- Understand and address customer needs and gather market intelligence
- Build account relationships that benefit patients, physicians, and other healthcare professionals
- Partner with in-house and cross-franchise leaders to identify, design, or adapt approaches and tactics
- Deliver effective on-label technical and scientific presentations using approved data
- Serve as lead US Commercial contact with targeted accounts in the assigned geography
- Collaborate with AbbVie and co-promotion partners, including Brand and Strategic Marketing, GPO, Thought Leader Liaisons, MSLs, and contracted SPPs
- Provide site support and address customer issues
- Build, implement, communicate, and update strategic and tactical business plans for targeted accounts
- Facilitate site physician and treatment-team training on approved and safe product use
- Monitor and report sales progress
- Provide routine communications to internal and external partners
- Act as AbbVie’s key point of contact for each account
- Respond to or direct customer questions and requests to appropriate services or contacts, with follow-up
- Coordinate timely support delivery to accounts
- Attend and participate in local clinician boards, societies, and healthcare professional meetings
- Represent AbbVie and assigned products at relevant venues and build or improve relationships
- Channel key information and findings to internal stakeholders
- Remain current on clinical, market, payer, oncology, and disease-area developments
- Complete required training and adhere to company policies and OEC/Legal procedures
- Gather important information and articulate implications for AbbVie and customer businesses
- Transfer knowledge to internal partners and integrate standard methodologies across assigned indications and brands
- Maintain understanding of approved product labeling and disease-state knowledge
- Optimize data, resources, and tools to identify sales opportunities and program strategy
- Participate in relevant local-market organizational programs with Legal/OEC approval
- Develop command of selling resources and tools to support selling strategies and maximize impact
Requirements
What you’ll need- Business savvy and analytical ability to analyze diverse data sets using multiple tools and define account/program strategies
- Ability to meet customer needs in a complex environment through forward-thinking, innovative strategies aligned with company and customer objectives
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to lead without direct authority
- Experience successfully developing teams on complex projects or challenges to achieve results
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Persistence and grit with a strong track record of succeeding in a challenging environment
- Driving a personal auto or company car or truck, or a powered piece of material handling equipment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test and meet safe driving requirements
- Ability to meet health care industry representative credentialing requirements, which may include background checks, drug screens, and proof of immunization/vaccination
- Oncology sales experience or oncology-specific clinical experience preferred
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Account management experience in any industry preferred
- Specialty pharmacy experience preferred
- Healthcare industry experience preferred
- MBA or other advanced degree preferred
