About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute AbbVie brand strategy and tactics in the field
- Manage assigned territory and targeted accounts
- Build strong customer relationships and address customer needs
- Deliver sales performance, brand KPIs, financial targets, and marketing objectives
- Create pre-call plans using SMART objectives and conduct post-call evaluations
- Handle objections and gain calls to action to close sales calls
- Serve customer needs and build trusted customer relationships
- Develop and execute call plans to optimize coverage and frequency for key customers
- Build knowledge of customer needs, territory landscape, competitors, market segments, accounts, disease, products, clinical information, and sales expertise
- Share market intelligence with in-field, brand, and sales management teams
- Differentiate AbbVie’s value proposition with health providers
- Identify, develop, and maintain disease-state experts and speakers/advocates
- Collaborate with specialty physicians, pharmacists, nurses, in-field teams, sales management, marketing, training, customer excellence, and brand-plan stakeholders
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in health, sciences, pharmacy, or a business-related field preferred, or relevant equivalent industry experience required
- In lieu of a bachelor’s degree: at least five years of experience, including three or more years within the pharmaceutical, health, or science industry preferred, plus a high school diploma/GED required
- Proven track record of sales success
- Solid presentation skills
- Ability to adapt selling approach to customer style and behavior
- Ability to develop innovative solutions and business opportunities
- Ability to influence others and serve as a credible role model and resource
- Collaborative partnership skills in district and matrix teams
- Documented leadership and support success at district, regional, or organizational levels
- Ability to develop sales strategies from findings
- Pharmaceutical commercial industry experience preferred, including physician/account-based selling, training, managed health care, or marketing
- English proficiency verbally and in writing
- Must satisfy applicable HCIR credentialing requirements and be in good standing or eligible to obtain credentials
- In-depth scientific, therapeutic, product, and competitive knowledge
- Strong business acumen and proficiency with business tools
- Strategic and critical thinking capabilities
- Ability to operate effectively in a matrix environment
- Ability to drive a personal auto, company car/truck, or powered material-handling equipment
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening test
- Must meet safe driving requirements
