About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute service work according to work instructions, customer orders, expectations, and ABB quality and safety guidelines
  • Work on-site with customers to identify operational improvement opportunities and eliminate pain points
  • Perform field service tasks, identify technical issues, and conduct certified on-site troubleshooting
  • Prepare material lists and ensure parts, materials, and equipment meet quality standards and are available
  • Execute installation, commissioning, maintenance, repairs, extensions, upgrades, retrofits, end-of-life services, and replacements
  • Build and maintain positive customer relationships
  • Identify potential sales opportunities and communicate them internally
  • Detect potential equipment failures and recommend corrective actions
  • Suggest product and quality improvements
  • Recommend operational and customer-service improvements to management
  • Follow safety and environmental practices and report unsafe practices and incidents promptly

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology with 1+ years’ experience servicing critical power equipment, OR Associate’s Degree in electrical technology with 3+ years’ experience, OR High School Diploma/GED and equivalent work and/or military experience with 5+ years’ experience
  • Advanced ability to interact and communicate written and verbal information to varying organizational levels
  • Advanced ability to use Microsoft Office products
  • Moderate ability to project manage using MS Project or Excel
  • Advanced ability to write test plans and reports detailing test results
  • Advanced ability to stay organized and meet administrative deadlines
  • Ability to collaborate well with others
  • Ability to work with a sense of urgency and ownership until the job is complete
  • Must already have work authorization permitting employment with ABB in the United States
