About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop and maintain accurate electrical design drawings and models supporting project goals
  • Create layouts, schematics, and documentation using 2D and 3D design tools
  • Prepare specific aspects of design assignments to meet contractual obligations and applicable standards
  • Support development of design concepts into complete documentation sets
  • Check and verify designs for completeness, clarity, and accuracy
  • Maintain organized records of design files, revisions, and supporting documentation
  • Update design documents throughout project life cycles
  • Use standard processes and tools and assist in developing new processes and tools for reuse of technical solutions
  • Develop design templates, libraries, and symbols/components
  • Participate in design reviews and incorporate feedback from engineering leads or project managers
  • Mentor junior designers or drafters where appropriate
  • Communicate with team members, vendors, and clients to resolve design issues
  • Collaborate with engineers and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, constructible, and code-compliant designs
  • Stay current with industry practices and design technologies to support continuous improvement and project success

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Enjoy working with 2D and 3D modelling software for industrial-market projects
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical 2D
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit 3D
  • Familiarity with electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, panel layouts, and cable routing
  • Familiarity with electrical codes and standards such as NEC, IEC, IEEE, and CSA is a plus
  • Ability to generate accurate bills of materials, reports, and documentation
  • CAD software certification in AutoCAD, Revit, or SolidWorks Electrical is a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical or electrical design/drafting, preferably in industrial, commercial, or construction environments
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, structural, and civil designers
  • Experience interpreting and developing electrical control systems and single-line diagrams
  • Candidates must already have work authorization permitting them to work for ABB in the US
