About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform installation, troubleshooting, repair and preventative maintenance on electrical distribution equipment.
  • Execute startup, commissioning, maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, and repair activities on electrical power distribution equipment.
  • Perform field service activities on low- and medium-voltage switchgear, circuit breakers, protective relays, automatic transfer switches (ATS), PLCs, and power management systems.
  • Diagnose equipment and system failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Support retrofits, upgrades, modernization projects, and emergency service calls.
  • Develop electrical drawings, schematics, and bills of material as required.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service and maintain strong customer relationships.
  • Prepare service reports, commissioning reports, and customer documentation.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School Diploma or GED, plus 8+ years of field service or engineering experience in electrical power distribution systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of: Low- and medium-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers
  • Protective relays (SEL, GE Multilin, or equivalent)
  • Commissioning, maintaining, or troubleshooting power distribution equipment
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and protection/control drawings.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel up to 70%.
  • Candidates must already have a work authorization that allows them to work for ABB in the United States.
