About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Technically lead APC projects, defining scope, schedule, methodology, and execution strategy.
  • Analyze industrial processes and identify opportunities for optimization, stability, and performance improvement.
  • Develop, configure, test, and commission advanced control strategies, including APC, MPC, control logic, and fuzzy rules.
  • Work on applications related to grinding, flotation, thickening, crushing, pelletizing, kilns, mills, separators, and dosing systems.
  • Prepare and review technical documents, functional specifications, test procedures, commissioning plans, and performance reports.
  • Integrate APC solutions with control systems, historians, OPC, databases, and other industrial systems.
  • Support installation, startup, tuning, stabilization, and performance validation together with customers.
  • Support technical proposals, effort estimates, scope definition, assumptions, risks, and implementation strategy.
  • Interface directly with customers, suppliers, and internal teams throughout project execution.
  • Contribute to standardization, continuous improvement, and internal APC knowledge development.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably in Chemical, Control and Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical, Metallurgical, Mining, or related fields.
  • Solid experience in advanced process control, industrial automation, or process optimization in process industries.
  • Practical knowledge of mining and/or cement processes.
  • Experience in the development, implementation, testing, commissioning, and optimization of APC solutions.
  • Knowledge of control systems, instrumentation, regulatory loops, historians, OPC, industrial networks, and system integration.
  • Ability to work in multidisciplinary environments with direct interaction with customers and technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, organization, and technical leadership.
  • Nice to have Experience with APC applied to grinding, flotation, thickening, crushing, cement kilns, vertical mills, ball mills, or separators.
  • Knowledge of APC/MPC, predictive control, process modeling, real-time optimization, or industrial analytics.
  • Experience in mining, metals, cement, chemicals, or pulp and paper industries.
  • Knowledge of ABB platforms, 800xA, Ability™, Expert Optimizer, DCS/PLC, and industrial historians.
  • Experience with technical proposals, benefit assessment, risk management, and performance validation.
  • English and Spanish for technical communication.
