About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Responsible for delivering high-quality technical support and service to our customers.
- Perform installations, maintenance, and repairs on equipment, ensuring optimal performance and customer satisfaction.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, testing, and troubleshooting of proprietary ABB hardware and software.
- Assist with projects, upgrades, new installations, and advanced services.
- Work independently or as part of a small site team.
- Maintain quality control hardware and software.
- Answer customer questions about the state of the ABB system.
- Resolve customer service-related issues while fostering customer relationships.
- Communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, 3rd party vendors, and ABB personnel.
- On-call for 24-hour emergency support service requests.
- Document work performed for periodic preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers.
- Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments.
- Apply safety rules and safe practices during all service activities.
- Lead Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities at customer sites and report unsafe practices and incidents.
- Identify new service business opportunities in close cooperation with customers and ABB teams.
- Coach technicians and engineers, and supervise complex site activities.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related experience required; OR HS diploma/GED and 7+ years of related experience required.
- Mechanical/Electrical aptitude including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety; ability to use electrical test equipment
- Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems
- Ability to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC.
- Comfortable using basic hand tools.
- Basic understanding of the paper making process and process control preferred; Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.
- Travel up to 15% for training and assisting other sites as needed.
- Applicants should possess a work authorization that would allow them to work permanently in the United States without sponsorship.
