About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines.
- Deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectation.
- Ensure customer retention by effectively communicating service work timeline and expectations.
- Maintain quality control hardware and software.
- Resolve customer service-related issues while fostering customer relationships and working to solve technical problems on-site.
- Deal directly with and communicate effectively with plant operators, plant management, 3rd party vendors, and other ABB personnel in support of service operations.
- Provide 24-hour emergency support service requests on a rotational on-call basis.
- Accurately document the work that is performed for preventive maintenance and corrective maintenance tasks.
- Play an active role in various projects such as upgrades, new installations, or new functionality for customers.
- Coordinate work with other groups to ensure meeting commitments.
- Apply safety rules and safe practices, as well as environmental responsibilities during all service activities.
- Lead Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) activities at customer sites and report unsafe practices and incidents to ensure a safe working environment.
- Identify new service business opportunities in close cooperation with customers and ABB teams.
- Coach technicians and engineers, and supervise complex site activities.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree and 2+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related experience required; OR HS diploma/GED and 4+ years of related experience required.
- Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters.
- Mechanical/Electrical aptitude including a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety.
- Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems; ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment; ability to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC.
- Comfortable using basic hand tools.
- Basic understanding of the paper making process and process control preferred.
- Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.
- Travel up to 15% for training and assisting other sites as needed.
