About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Execute service work as per work instructions and in accordance with ABB quality and safety guidelines.
  • Deliver quality customer service planning and execute service work as per customer order and expectations.
  • Communicate service work timelines and expectations to ensure customer retention.
  • Maintain quality control hardware and software.
  • Resolve customer service-related issues while fostering customer relationships and working to solve technical problems on-site.
  • Deal directly with plant operators, plant management, 3rd party vendors, and other ABB personnel.
  • Rotational on-call for 24-hour emergency support service requests.
  • Accurately document work performed for maintenance tasks.
  • Play an active role in projects such as upgrades and new installations.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Associate’s degree and 2+ years of electrical/electronics, instrumentation or process control related experience required; OR HS diploma/GED and 4+ years of related experience required.
  • Ability to use electrical test equipment such as voltmeters or multi-meters.
  • Mechanical/Electrical aptitude including; a basic understanding of electrical theory and electrical safety.
  • Ability to read electrical drawings and troubleshoot electrical systems; ability to diagnose malfunctioning electrical systems up to 240 VAC/870 VDC and perform preventive maintenance using electrical test equipment; ability to identify voltage systems that are above the level 240 VAC/870 VDC.
  • Comfortable using basic hand tools.
  • Basic understanding of the paper making process and process control preferred.
  • Exposure to DCS programming and troubleshooting is beneficial.
  • Travel up to 15% for training and assisting other sites as needed.
