About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

  • Contact insureds and other affected parties

  • Thoroughly document activities in claim files
  • Complete complex coverage analyses and identify all possible policyholder benefits
  • Investigate claim facts
  • Determine whether claims should be paid and confirm recovery potential
  • Review damages and determine applicability of state law and other claim-related factors
  • Refer claims to Underwriting, Subrogation, or the Special Investigation Unit when appropriate
  • Handle attorney-represented and unrepresented injury claimants involving coverage investigations, liability disputes, bodily injuries, and litigation
  • Assist the Claim Manager with file reviews and training
  • Work within assigned claim systems and process time-sensitive information from multiple sources
  • Travel outside the assigned territory when needed

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Five years of experience or equivalent training in claim settlement negotiation, evidence evaluation, manual and electronic estimates, subrogation claims, coverage questions, statements, and claim evaluation and resolution plans
  • Florida State Adjuster License required where an adjuster’s license is required
  • Degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent related work experience
  • Valid driver's license required if responsibilities involve in-person inspections or frequent in-person meetings
  • Advanced knowledge of the Fair Trade Practices Act as it relates to claims
  • Advanced knowledge of subrogation procedures and processes
  • Advanced knowledge of intercompany arbitration
  • Advanced knowledge of handling litigation
  • Advanced knowledge of Negligence Law and No-Fault Law
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and human anatomy
  • Ability to handle claims to the line and follow/apply ACG Claim policies, procedures, guidelines, and standards
  • Ability to work within assigned ACG Claim systems and basic PC software
  • Basic claim file review and investigation skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Customer service and relationship-building skills with insureds/claimants
  • Problem-solving, sound decision-making, prioritization, time management, organization, and research skills
  • Ability to analyze and interpret subrogation laws in various states
  • Ability to travel outside assigned territory, potentially involving overnight stays
  • Ability to relocate and work evenings or weekends
  • Must reside within 50 miles of Tampa, Florida
  • Preferred: Associate degree in Business Administration, Insurance, or a related field, or equivalent related work experience
  • Completion of ACG Claim Representative Training Program or equivalent knowledge/experience
  • Preferred: completion of Insurance Institute of America's General Insurance Program, Associate in Claims, Associate in Management, equivalent CPCU coursework, or designation
  • Preferred: five years of litigation file handling experience
  • Must consent to a background and drug screen if offered employment
