About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Review and analyze internal and external investigations, inspections and statuses to ensure rating and premium value integrity
  • Review information, initiate policy adjustments for commercial product lines and tabulate results
  • Compare rating characteristics of specific accounts and formulate actions to comply with underwriting rules and procedures
  • Provide advanced technical and product information in response to questions and inquiries
  • Attend required training
  • Correspond with and maintain professional relationships with agents and producers
  • Explain reasons for policy adjustments
  • Update rating criteria on affected policies
  • Complete activity sheets for monthly reports and calculate premiums recovered to assess revenue impact of inappropriate ratings
  • Underwrite and process renewals and endorsements within authority level
  • Work with underwriters, senior underwriters and/or supervisors when matters exceed authority level

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Two years insurance experience reviewing claims for possible changes in rating or acceptability status
  • Experience analyzing insurance needs and determining appropriate levels of coverage
  • Experience working with various commercial insurance product lines
  • Experience investigating and validating proper rating
  • Knowledge of company underwriting policies, procedures and practices
  • Knowledge of inspection techniques related to commercial insurance
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Ability to present complex information clearly and concisely
  • Ability to access and work with rate account information on a computer terminal
  • Ability to review new or renewal commercial insurance accounts to determine appropriate rating classifications
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Must consent to a background and drug screen if offered employment
  • Preferred: college-level coursework in Business Administration or a related field
  • Preferred: CPCU, IIA, CIC or other insurance-related coursework
