About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Design, develop, implement, test, and maintain moderately complex web-based and distributed applications
- Support project deliverables, coding, system testing, and technical documentation according to IT standards
- Develop system documentation including structure charts, screen designs, data flow diagrams, file layouts, report layouts, and job run descriptions
- Analyze business problems and evaluate information systems
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues in test, development, or production environments
- Write procedures and technical materials
- Collaborate with business partners, developers, product teams, and other stakeholders on design concepts and project activities
Requirements
What you’ll need- College coursework in Computer Science or Information Systems
- Experience with distributed and/or web-based system development
- Experience with programming languages such as COBOL II or J2E
- Experience with database management systems such as IMS DB, DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, or Access
- Web development experience with HTML
- Knowledge of structured systems analysis, design, programming, and testing
- Mainframe and/or distributed computing fundamentals and concepts
- Ability to analyze business problems
- Strong analytical and investigative ability
- Effective business communication
- Ability to evaluate information systems and understand interdependencies between components
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems in test, development, or production environments
- Ability to write procedures and technical materials
- Ability to perform concurrent activities effectively
- Background check and drug screen required upon employment offer
- Regular and reliable attendance required
- Occasional travel may be required for meetings, collaborative activities, or team building
- Preferred bachelor's degree in UI/UX Design, Human-Centered Design, Interaction Design, Product Design, Graphic Design, Visual Communication, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
- Coursework, internship, academic project, volunteer, or professional experience related to user interface, user experience, or digital product design
- Portfolio or work samples demonstrating wireframing, prototyping, visual design, user research, or web/mobile experience design
- Familiarity with Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or similar tools
- Basic understanding of user-centered design, usability, responsive design, information architecture, accessibility, or design systems
- Ability to gather feedback and translate user or business needs into clear design concepts
- Ability to communicate design ideas and collaborate with business partners, developers, product teams, and stakeholders
- Familiarity with Agile, iterative design, or software and product development methodologies
