About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Ensure execution of the product vision by defining and driving product strategy
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for product development, improvement, and distribution
  • Build and protect product execution from planning and discovery through product development
  • Implement the product development process and develop product goals
  • Coordinate acquisition and retention programs
  • Manage product growth, penetration, forecasts, profitability, performance, enhancements, and costs
  • Partner with sales on new product introductions, Marketing on advertising and promotion, and Information Systems on technology and application support
  • Monitor profitability, productivity, growth targets, and product-line performance; recommend corrections
  • Conduct market, competitive, customer, and industry research
  • Define product features and workflows; develop and implement new product features
  • Develop distribution plans and cost-benefit analyses
  • Manage timelines and internal/external resources to launch products
  • Provide strategic direction for assigned product lines, including product mix, pricing, positioning, sales channels, market expansion, and cost reduction
  • Oversee strategic marketing plans and product advertising and expense budgets
  • Collaborate with product distribution, sales, operations, finance, and other organizational areas
  • Monitor, evaluate, and communicate progress against goals to senior management
  • Recruit, train, coach, and manage a team of product managers, owners, and designers
  • Review and initiate salary increases, promotions, terminations, and other employee-status changes
  • Facilitate communication with outside vendors and business partners
  • Build and protect a culture focused on core values, innovation, and collaboration
  • Make decisions affecting the strategic direction of digital product lines and implement new processes
  • Represent the organization as primary contact with management and senior value-chain partners

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5+ years of P&C insurance experience in sales, customer service, product management, underwriting, claims, or analytics
  • Strong product visionary
  • Superior strategic, analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including authorship of product-related documentation
  • Strong interpersonal skills with technical and non-technical audiences and senior executives
  • Advanced strategic thinking and ability to transform strategy into actionable plans
  • Understanding of UI/UX design and basic usability principles
  • Advanced ability to define and lead implementation of new processes
  • Ability to compile, analyze and interpret statistical data
  • Advanced organization, planning, and problem resolution skills
  • Demonstrated experience shipping a product
  • High degree of independent decision-making and problem-solving ability
  • Ability to manage/supervise a team of 10+
  • Ability to work on complex issues requiring in-depth evaluation of variable factors
  • Ability to influence internal and external stakeholders
  • AAA participates in E-Verify
