About the role
- Supervise and direct clinical education of KCOM third- and fourth-year medical students
- Arrange and assure clinical rotation schedules within the region
- Enforce the academic policy of the University
- Provide routine mentoring and professional advice to students
- Identify and manage regional preceptors and clinical rotation sites
- Approve student absences and grant educational leaves and vacations
- Provide annual regional summary and budget recommendations to main campus
- Represent KCOM at hospital/system meetings and serve as liaison with regional sites
- Facilitate site orientation, hospital tours, Education Day activities, Oral Case presentations, Journal Clubs, and Written Cases
- Participate in bi-monthly Deans' online sessions and annual regional conference as directed
- Facilitate exam or assessment remediation processes
- Assess students' fitness for duty and restructure responsibilities with college approval
Requirements
- DO or MD degree
- Ability to oversee student functions, including application of Osteopathic Principles and Practice
- Two to three years of experience in medical education preferred
- Leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills required
- Positive, flexible, compassionate, organized, and approachable demeanor
- Ability to identify and manage preceptors and clinical rotation scheduling
- Ability to assess students' fitness for duty and approve absences
- Ability to secure and submit required documents for credentialing consideration
