About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Responsible for assisting in all aspects of the raw material planning process in a lean manufacturing environment including communication with suppliers and internal customers to ensure all raw materials needs to support production requirements
  • Ensure customer order delivery commitments are met
  • Achieve company cost, lead time, and inventory reduction goals
  • Coordinate work within or between departments of the plant to support production
  • Assist in preparing production schedules and work orders
  • Compile records of production and reports on volume, materials, etc
  • Collaborate with more experienced engineers in deciding the use of production machines, equipment and tools
  • Prepare detailed production schedules in accordance with required volumes, plant capacity and materials availability
  • Control actual figures of production and prepare schedule adjustments whenever required
  • Help analyze and eliminate slow-moving and obsolete inventory
  • Assist with and analyze MRP and forecast data, generate purchase orders, and manage Kanban's to meet production needs with minimal inventory investment
  • Communicate company requirements to suppliers as well as internal customers
  • Assist Senior Production planner resolves issues with suppliers relative to material availability and quality
  • Assist with coordinating material shipments with internal and external logistics services
  • Identify and communicate material supply issues that may affect production schedules
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Bachelors Degree preferred, will consider experience in lieu of degree
  • CPM or APICS certification preferred
  • Strong communication and analytical skills via written and oral
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, i.e. Word, Excel, Access, Power Point, Outlook
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing processes
