About the role
- Resolve complex technical issues involving servers, desktops, laptops, printers, and other devices, ensuring minimal disruption to users.
- Deploy, configure, and maintain a wide range of hardware and software solutions, including custom imaging and updates for end-user devices.
- Research and evaluate new software products, recommending changes to enhance system performance and organizational productivity.
- Perform more sophisticated hardware repairs and work closely with vendors to address recurring or critical issues.
- Lead smaller IT projects or components of larger projects, coordinating with various teams to ensure successful implementation.
- Document, maintain, and improve troubleshooting guides, "how-to" procedures, and support documentation.
- Be available for on-call support as assigned by the manager, often handling higher-level escalations.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Desktop Support Specialist I/II staff, helping them grow their technical skills and understanding of best practices.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging IT trends and technologies, proactively recommending new solutions to improve the team's effectiveness.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- Associate degree in computer science or equivalent experience required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A+ certified and/or Network+ certified preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in desktop support, IT troubleshooting, or a related role required.
- Intermediate troubleshooting skills for a range of issues across servers, desktops, laptops, printers, and other end-user devices.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Windows OS, Google Suite, Hypervisors, and other common enterprise IT systems.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, capable of explaining technical information to all levels of the organization.
- Proven ability to provide technical guidance and training to less-experienced team members.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to lead smaller projects or support larger initiatives.
- Excellent time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
