About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Provide system development, enhancement, and maintenance support for a payroll application of a U.S. Government client
- Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods
- Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications
- Work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements
- Establish and coordinate development standards, practices, and procedures for product development
- Design interfaces and integrate system elements
- Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
- Liaise with customers and support business development activities to understand and shape requirements
- Participate in system conceptual design and document design concepts
- Contribute to hardware and software component design reviews
- Generate system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures
- Review test plans and procedures and participate in testing to validate requirements
- Modify existing databases and database management systems, or direct programmers and analysts in making changes
- Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify database identifiers
- Coordinate database development as part of a project team and determine project scope and limitations
- Review database project requests and estimate time and cost to complete them
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be a US Citizen (no dual citizenship)
- 5+ years of mainframe experience using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2
- Prior experience working with FOCUS COBOL
- Ability to design, code, and test software requirements
- Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, from business/systems analysis through requirements gathering, functional specification authoring, development, testing, and delivery
- Familiarity with Agile methodology is a plus
- Ability to work independently
- Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills
- Able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance
- Must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in the last 5 years
- Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years
