About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Provide system development, enhancement, and maintenance support for a payroll application of a U.S. Government client
Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods
Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirement specifications
Work with other engineering disciplines to develop lower-level detailed implementation requirements
Establish and coordinate development standards, practices, and procedures for product development
Design interfaces and integrate system elements
Assess performance using evaluation criteria and technical performance measures
Liaise with customers and support business development activities to understand and shape requirements
Participate in system conceptual design and document design concepts
Contribute to hardware and software component design reviews
Generate system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures
Review test plans and procedures and participate in testing to validate requirements
Modify existing databases and database management systems, or direct programmers and analysts in making changes
Write and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify database identifiers
Coordinate database development as part of a project team and determine project scope and limitations
Review database project requests and estimate time and cost to complete them

Requirements

What you’ll need

Must be a US Citizen (no dual citizenship)
5+ years of mainframe experience using COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2
Prior experience working with FOCUS COBOL
Ability to design, code, and test software requirements
Basic knowledge of the full software development lifecycle, from business/systems analysis through requirements gathering, functional specification authoring, development, testing, and delivery
Familiarity with Agile methodology is a plus
Ability to work independently
Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills
Able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance
Must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in the last 5 years
Must have resided in the US for the last 5 years
