Family Support Specialist
A Blessing of Hope Family ServicesFamily Service Specialist at A Blessing of Hope Family Services supporting family reunification by supervising visits and providing parenting assistance. Engaging with families while collaborating with DHHS for positive outcomes.
About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise visits in the client home, community during the evenings (2pm-8pm) and weekends.
- Provide engaging parenting skills assistance, help to strengthen a family’s bond, and in the moment redirection and parent coaching.
- Advocate for families, setting goals with the assistance of the caseworker and families, documenting progress, reporting any concerns of alleged abuse/neglect, testifying in court as needed, and providing transportation for the children and families served.
- Work closely with families and the Department of Health and Human Services to help them reach goals set by their caseworker.
- Facilitate visitations between children and their families, providing safe and reliable transportation to and from visits.
- Maintain accurate and unbiased reports of each visit.
- Help families find and apply for resources that support their path to reunification and well-being.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Reliable Transportation to safely transport children and meet families.
- Valid insurance and drivers license required.
- Clear Communication and strong documentation skills.
- Positive Rapport with families to build trust and provide meaningful support.
- Preferred Bachelor’s degree in a Human Services field, But NOT Required !(Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, Counseling, etc).
- Prior experience working with kids, crisis intervention and conflict resolution, and knowledge of child development and the child welfare system.
- Candidates must be at least 21 years old.
- Clear criminal history and a driving record with no more than three points assessed.
- Strong written communication skills for accurate and unbiased documentation, as well as excellent verbal communication skills via phone and email.
