About the role
- 9th Way Insignia is a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business delivering cybersecurity, cloud modernization, software development, data analytics, enterprise architecture, enterprise IT, analytics, process automation, and AI to government customers
- Oversee all accounting operations including billing, A/R, A/P, GL, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and payroll
- Prepare and present timely, accurate monthly and annual financial statements
- Manage all aspects of monthly close and consolidation
- Lead the transition from outsourced finance functions to a fully in-house team
- Serve as Unanet system SME for accounting functions; oversee integration and optimization
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, FAR, and government contract regulations
- Partner with the Pricer, Finance Operations Lead, and EVP of Human Capital to develop accurate pricing models and labor projections
- Develop and enforce internal controls to maximize protection of company assets and ensure efficiency
- Coordinate external audits and support the annual ISO and 401K audits
- Manage and mentor accounting staff including Staff Accountant and Program Financial Analysts
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field required
- CPA strongly preferred
- 10+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Experience in government contracting and a deep understanding of FAR, DCAA, and CAS compliance
- Expertise in Unanet or similar ERP systems
- Proven experience building or leading accounting teams, including in-house transition from outsourced providers
- High attention to detail, integrity, and confidentiality
- Preferred: Prior experience as a Controller in a midsize or growing GovCon firm
- Preferred: Strong communication and executive presentation skills
- Preferred: Commitment to continuous improvement and process optimization
