About the role
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small product design team focused on Design System evolution and adoption.
- Work hands-on to design, refine, and document components, patterns, tokens, and UX standards that both humans and GenAI systems can leverage.
- Partner with Engineering and AI/ML counterparts to map the design system into AI-ready structures, ensuring components and patterns are machine-readable, scalable, and consistent.
- Drive the strategic direction of the Design System to support AI-assisted UI generation, automated prototyping, consistency audits, and migration tooling.
- Influence product org leaders (PM, Eng, Brand) to align design system decisions with platform strategy and modernization efforts.
- Establish governance, contribution models, and workflows that support cross-team use and evolution of the system.
- Embed testing, validation, and iteration into the design system lifecycle.
- Leverage GenAI tools to accelerate documentation, audits, usage insights, and component exploration.
- Foster collaboration across geographies and time zones, ensuring strong async practices and organizational alignment.
Requirements
- 8+ years in product design, with 2+ years in a lead or management role.
- Strong hands-on experience with Design Systems — components, tokens, documentation, governance, multi-product adoption.
- Strong interaction and visual design craft; able to set a high bar for system quality.
- Experience designing or maintaining SaaS or enterprise-scale UX patterns.
- Deep experience in user testing and validation — you use it naturally to refine patterns and ensure system correctness.
- Strong strategic framing skills — able to influence decisions across PM, Engineering, Brand, Research, and other design leaders.
- AI-forward mindset — demonstrated use of GenAI tools in your workflow and clear curiosity about how to leverage the Design System for AI-generated UI.
- Comfortable working with cross-functional partners to make the system machine-consumable, scalable, and future-proof.
- Excellent communication skills across distributed environments.
- Proficiency in Figma and strong understanding of design system best practices.
