About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the creative heart of 33 USA translating iconic Japanese IP into brand experiences.
- Architect an integrated creative vision across advertising, live events, social media, and PR.
- Lead high-stakes concept pitching, long-term account growth, and creative execution.
- Set overarching creative direction for integrated campaigns, brand identities, and product experiences.
- Develop cohesive content strategies across online and offline touchpoints.
- Localize and adapt "Tone & Manner" of Japanese IP for North American audiences.
- Inspire a team of Art Directors, Copywriters, Designers, Motion Designers, and Video Creators.
- Lead and direct bespoke creative pods for projects, ensuring talent matches challenges.
- Manage creative partners, freelancers, and production studios for capability scaling.
- Lead the creative component of business pitches, presenting strategies that win accounts.
- Act as the primary creative point of contact for C-suite and senior marketing clients.
- Partner closely with internal divisions to deliver holistic proposals.
- Identify opportunities to expand accounts through innovation and trust-based relationships.
- Ensure brand consistency and maintain aesthetic and strategic integrity across outputs.
- Oversee review processes and provide final sign-off on all creative deliverables.
- Navigate IP licensing requirements and production committee approvals for marketing goals.
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, and resource allocation in collaboration with Producers.
- Manage multiple high-priority projects ensuring on-time delivery and budget adherence.
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years of experience as a Creative Director, preferably within a fast-paced agency environment (Advertising, Marketing, or Creative).
- A diverse online portfolio demonstrating mastery in integrated campaigns and brand storytelling (URL must be provided).
- Proven track record of presenting to and influencing senior-level clients and stakeholders.
- Deep understanding of the North American advertising and entertainment landscape.
- Direct experience in the entertainment industry (Anime, Gaming, or Pop Culture) preferred.
- Experience designing physical event booths or immersive brand activations preferred.
- Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English is a significant plus.
- Familiarity with Japanese IP licensing workflows and production committee structures.
- Cultural fluency: A deep passion for and understanding of North American fandoms and social media trends.
