About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Execute test plans and test cases for hardware products, embedded software, and connected IoT systems
- Perform functional, regression, and integration testing on 1VALET Entry systems and related hardware
- Assist in validating integrations including smart locks, thermostats, access readers, and sensors
- Support senior engineers during new hardware bring-up and lab setup
- Test mobile applications, backend services, and embedded firmware for end-to-end system validation
- Run tests across device types, screen sizes, hardware revisions, and firmware versions
- Reproduce, log, and verify software defect fixes with software engineers
- Investigate field issues with Customer Experience and Operations teams
- Replicate customer-reported bugs in the lab using physical hardware and test environments
- Document bug details and reproduction steps
- Log, track, and re-test bugs using test management and bug-tracking software
- Maintain test documentation and report test execution results
- Participate in discussions to improve product quality and testing efficiency
Requirements
What you’ll need- 1–2 years of experience in Quality Assurance, or equivalent through internships, hands-on projects, or lab coursework
- Foundational understanding of hardware, software, and basic networking concepts including Wi-Fi, Ethernet, and Bluetooth/BLE
- Hands-on familiarity with physical hardware, consumer electronics, or lab equipment
- Basic experience using bug-tracking tools such as Jira or TestRail
- Strong problem-solving mindset and attention to detail
- Desire to learn complex hardware-software ecosystems
