Underwriter

• As the Operations Manager, Underwriting you will be responsible for the operational performance of the underwriting function, with two primary areas of accountability.
• Leadership and development of the Underwriting Assistant (UA) team.
• Management and optimization of workflow, service delivery, and operational productivity across the underwriting operation.
• Ensure efficient and consistent workflow management across the underwriting lifecycle.
• Maintain capacity planning and service delivery metrics for underwriting leadership.
• Collaborate closely with the Underwriting Manager to align operational execution with portfolio priorities and production goals.
• Attract, select, retain, lead, and develop a team of Underwriting Assistants.
• Provide performance coaching and technical mentorship to Underwriting Assistants.
• Own underwriting operational performance end-to-end.
• Monitor submission, renewal and endorsement volumes and manage workload distribution across the team.
• Maintain production dashboards and operational reporting to support underwriting leadership.

Underwriting Operations Manager

• Oversee and drive strategic initiatives that enhance and optimize underwriting operations
• Lead cross-functional teams to improve product and underwriting processes
• Collaborate with Underwriting, Finance, Legal, Compliance, IT, and business areas
• Identify training needs through evaluation of underwriting QA results
• Design, document and centralize efficient procedures and workflows across underwriting roles
• Build and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners
• Oversee hiring, training, onboarding, and development of team members.

VP – Underwriting Enablement

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of Reinsurance Underwriters
• Ensure underwriting practices comply with internal guidelines, regulatory requirements, and rating agency expectations
• Oversee team workflow, capacity, and service standards
• Lead the underwriting process for a portfolio of treaty submissions
• Function as a senior underwriter on key accounts
• Build, manage, and expand relationships with key brokers and ceding companies
• Monitor portfolio performance using KPIs
• Support or lead special projects such as new product development

Senior Reinsurance Underwriting Manager

• Manage 3 UW teams and develop their skill sets in line with our underwriting philosophy and guidelines
• Maintain relationships and stay on the cutting edge of new third party data offerings. Identify, pilot, and engage new tools to improve underwriting
• Communicate with our insurance partners in concert with Ladder’s business development director who leads the relationship management of our reinsurers and carriers
• Partner with actuary to present mortality slippage each month to Ladder’s mortality team
• Serve as a subject matter expert to engineering and product teams as we build new insurance offerings

Director, Underwriting

• Bring your expertise as an underwriter to cross-functional Ladder work teams.
• Evaluate medical and personal history on life insurance applications up to $8 million face amount.
• Participate in the development of the Underwriting team members.
• Collaborate with the Underwriting Audit team to enhance Underwriting Guidelines and clearly communicate audit finding feedback to the Underwriting team.
• Work closely with the Customer Experience and Compliance teams to answer underwriting related questions and share underwriting knowledge.
• Be comfortable both underwriting and applying your knowledge to systems and processes.
• Report to the Head of Underwriting.
