About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

conducting internal reviews of legal threats, lawsuits, and government agency complaints against the firm under the supervision of senior lawyers within the group.
drafting correspondence with government agencies and opposing parties
assisting in the design and implementation of compliance programs relevant to consumer and commercial debt collection, data privacy and security, and employment related issues.

Requirements

What you’ll need

Minimum one year of experience as a practicing attorney.
Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
Admitted, active and in good standing with at least one State Bar.
Ability to anticipate legal issues, risks and compliance needs.
Ability to develop legal strategy and exercise sound independent judgment.
Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret laws and regulations.
Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.
Strong oral and written communication skills required.
Strong interpersonal skills required.
Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements affecting the debt collection and financial services industries preferred.
Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and state consumer protections laws preferred.
Be able to communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing.
Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device.
Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule.
Be able to read and comprehend position-specific documents and correspondence.
Physical Qualifications
Be able to lift five pounds or greater
Be able to sit 90% of the workday at times
Be able to bend at the waist and be mobile when needed
Be able to concentrate and use critical thinking
