About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • conducting internal reviews of legal threats, lawsuits, and government agency complaints against the firm under the supervision of senior lawyers within the group.
  • drafting correspondence with government agencies and opposing parties
  • assisting in the design and implementation of compliance programs relevant to consumer and commercial debt collection, data privacy and security, and employment related issues.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum one year of experience as a practicing attorney.
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admitted, active and in good standing with at least one State Bar.
  • Ability to anticipate legal issues, risks and compliance needs.
  • Ability to develop legal strategy and exercise sound independent judgment.
  • Ability to comprehend, analyze and interpret laws and regulations.
  • Ability to appropriately maintain confidentiality.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills required.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills required.
  • Knowledge of the legal and regulatory requirements affecting the debt collection and financial services industries preferred.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and state consumer protections laws preferred.
  • Be able to communicate in a common language with (or to) individuals or groups verbally and/or in writing.
  • Be able to operate a computer, phone, or equivalent device.
  • Be able to complete a minimum of a 40-hour flexible workweek schedule.
  • Be able to read and comprehend position-specific documents and correspondence.
  • Physical Qualifications
  • Be able to lift five pounds or greater
  • Be able to sit 90% of the workday at times
  • Be able to bend at the waist and be mobile when needed
  • Be able to concentrate and use critical thinking
