About the role
- Redefine passenger experience in autonomous vehicles through innovative vehicle design and AV technology
- Lead projects to design and build prototypes for Zoox's autonomous vehicle platform
- Design and build complex mechanical prototypes and assemblies in CATIA, ensuring high performance and manufacturability
- Accurately model surfaces, geometries, and assemblies for rapid prototyping and evaluation
- Create detailed drawings, documentation, and BOMs to support fabrication, assembly, and testing
- Develop tools, jigs, fixtures, and molds to enable efficient prototyping of components and composites
- Collaborate across design, engineering, and manufacturing teams to drive innovative AV hardware solutions
- Research and apply emerging materials and manufacturing techniques to accelerate development and decision-making
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautics, Mechatronics, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design or prototyping; automotive experience preferred
- Expertise in 3D CAD design for solids and surfaces; CATIA V5/V6 preferred
- Proven ability to lead complex prototyping projects across multiple functions
- (Bonus) Hands-on prototyping experience with machining, welding, composites, or additive manufacturing
- (Bonus) Experience managing suppliers to support prototyping efforts
- (Bonus) Familiarity with documentation and project management tools such as Jira, Smartsheet, or Confluence
