About the role

  • Lead design and release efforts for components on Zoox's brake system
  • Collaborate with tier-one suppliers to develop and release foundation brake and hydraulic distribution components
  • Work on both supplier-led designs and in-house build-to-print components
  • Manage component and system specifications and PLM release process documents
  • Conduct failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Create 2D and 3D computer-aided drawings and models using CATIA V6
  • Plan and execute validation tests, lead component testing and characterization, and analyze data
  • Partner with suppliers to oversee design management, documentation, and engineering execution
  • Maintain detailed project timelines and meet engineering milestones
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional groups across Zoox

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or at least 3 years of equivalent engineering experience
  • Experience designing stamped, cast, machined, and/or plastic injection molded components for mass production
  • Familiarity with CATIA V6 for modeling and drawing creation and package verification
  • Experience with foundation brake and hydraulic distribution hardware designs & validation methods
  • Experience interfacing/managing suppliers through the product development life cycle
  • Knowledge of automotive program development, release processes, and long-term schedule planning
  • Ability to perform failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA)
  • Experience creating 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models and overseeing PLM release documentation
  • Experience planning and executing validation tests and analyzing test data
  • Supplier management and project timeline maintenance
  • Bonus: Experience at automotive OEM or significant Tier 1
  • Bonus: Polarion, Jira, and Confluence experience
  • Bonus: Simulink proficiency and hydraulic system modeling
