About the role
- Ensure underwriting practices are consistent, compliant, and aligned with agency guidelines
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of underwriters
- Oversee the underwriting process for new transactions and resubmissions
- Monitor performance metrics and underwriting results
- Develop and implement training programs for underwriting policies
- Handle escalated issues and provide solutions
Requirements
- 10+ years of recent underwriting experience
- At least 2 years in a leadership or management role
- Strong knowledge of underwriting principles, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements
- Must have recent conventional and FHA underwriting experience; additional VA experience preferred
- Proven ability to manage teams, develop talent, and drive performance
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
