About the role
- Oversee the Engineering Delivery Systems helpdesk, including intake management, prioritization, and assignment of support tickets across the team to ensure timely and effective resolution.
- Assist in managing software vendors, including coordinating support escalations, participating in roadmap discussions, evaluating product capabilities, and ensuring alignment with organizational needs.
- Provide senior‑level oversight of standard CAD platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, BIM tools) and core engineering applications used across the organization.
- Configure and optimize CAD‑based design systems to meet project requirements, including symbol libraries, drawing standards, data structures, and discipline workflows.
- Support the company’s engineering systems integration strategy by aligning CAD and engineering tools with project specifications and data‑exchange requirements.
- Maintain system health and reliability, monitor performance, and ensure appropriate security and access controls for engineering data.
- Install, upgrade, and configure CAD and engineering software, ensuring stable, predictable operation for project teams.
- Develop, implement, and maintain engineering software standards, best practices, templates, and workflows that promote consistency and efficiency.
- Serve as a senior subject matter expert—diagnosing complex issues, guiding users, delivering training, and coordinating with software vendors.
- Manage engineering data structures, ensuring data integrity, structured file management, and efficient collaboration across offices and remote locations.
- Partner with IT on hardware/software procurement, licensing strategy, vendor management, and system lifecycle planning.
- Support project planning by advising teams on tool capabilities, preparing technical guidance, and coordinating engineering software resources.
Requirements
- High School Diploma required; bachelor’s degree in engineering, information technology, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in CAD/engineering software administration, user support, or systems implementation.
- Experience supporting Autodesk, Hexagon, and AVEVA design tools required.
- Proven experience supporting core engineering tools required, including configuration, troubleshooting, standards development, and workflow optimization.
- Experience working with engineering data structures, data integrity practices, and controlled data environments supporting multi‑discipline design.
- Experience coordinating with software vendors, including support escalations, product evaluations, and contract/licensing discussions.
- Proficiency with CAD/BIM platforms, scripting languages (e.g., VBScript, Python, PowerShell), and database technologies (e.g., SQL).
- Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex system and workflow issues.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering software management, systems integration, and standards development.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills, with the ability to collaborate across disciplines and provide direction to technical teams.
