About the role

  • Plan, design, develop and lead electrical engineering projects in the Oil & Gas and Petrochemical industries
  • Lead a team of Electrical Engineers and mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Independently perform assignments with direction on overall objectives, critical issues, and policy matters
  • Maintain liaisons with internal and external stakeholders and act independently on technical matters
  • Plan, organize, and supervise work of engineers, professionals, and technicians
  • Seal and sign documentation as a Licensed Professional Engineer; may seal work by supervised engineers
  • Perform studies, prepare specifications, evaluate proposals, and develop estimates
  • Provide recommendations for purchase of electrical system components and check manufacturers’ deliverables
  • Examine electrical drawings for completeness and act as peer reviewer
  • Assure company quality assurance procedures are followed in assigned tasks
  • Provide field engineering and construction support as required
  • Use standard software and CADD applications for project deliverables

Requirements

  • Knowledge of electrical codes and standards (e.g., NEC, IEEE, PIP, etc.)
  • Electrical calculations & studies: feeder sizing, electrical equipment sizing, voltage drop, short circuit analysis, load flow, protective device coordination (breakers/relays), arc flash analysis, grounding
  • One-line diagrams including metering & relaying for low, medium and high-voltage electrical systems
  • Schematic diagrams for low, medium, and high voltage electrical equipment/systems
  • Electrical raceway design including underground ductbanks, cable tray and conduit systems
  • Lighting design including interior, exterior and roadway lighting and lighting panel schedules
  • Electrical lists & schedules including load list, electrical equipment list, and cable schedules
  • Electrical general arrangements/equipment layouts
  • Backup and emergency power systems
  • Understanding of electrical construction methods and materials
  • Grounding design and grounding studies
  • Hazardous area classification
  • Equipment procurement: equipment specifications, bid evaluation, vendor drawing review
  • Cost estimating and material takeoffs
  • Proposal development: project scopes, budgets, and schedules
  • Field engineering/construction support
  • Competent with standard server software (email, spreadsheet, word processing, database) and familiar with CADD applications
  • Experience using SKM and/or ETAP (highly preferable)
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited program (preferred)
  • 15+ years of experience working as an Electrical Engineer for Refining, Petrochemical and industrial projects (preferred)
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (ability to seal and sign documentation)
