About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Administer and maintain the application's Microsoft SQL Server databases
- Ensure database availability, integrity and performance
- Monitor database operation and identify anomalies
- Track batch processes and data flows
- Participate in maintenance operations and environment upgrades
- Analyze and resolve database-related incidents
- Contribute to data security and reliability
- Analyze performance issues and identify expensive SQL queries
- Optimize queries, stored procedures and SQL processes
- Analyze execution plans and work on indexing
- Identify locking, contention and resource consumption issues
- Implement metrics to anticipate performance degradation
- Advise developers on SQL Server database design and usage
- Assist with writing and optimizing SQL queries
- Participate in data modeling decisions, schema changes and data migrations
- Help prepare and secure production deployments
- Liaise with business teams and analyze issues reported by stores
- Identify whether anomalies originate from technical or functional causes
- Translate business needs into issues that technical teams can understand
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the application and its data platform
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or equivalent
- Minimum 4–5 years' experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA
- Ideally experienced in an application environment with strong interactions between development and business teams
- Strong command of Microsoft SQL Server
- Solid skills in database administration, optimization and performance tuning
- Ability to analyze complex SQL issues and investigate performance incidents
- Comfortable working directly with developers and business teams
- Excellent analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to bridge technical and functional stakeholders
