About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop features and new instrumentation support for a C# Windows desktop application used for instrument control and data visualization
  • Research, design, develop, release, and maintain application, user interface, data analysis, and instrument control software for thermal analysis, rheological, and calorimetric instruments
  • Evaluate system specifications and translate system requirements into task specifications
  • Support current programs through performance analysis, diagnosis, troubleshooting, and solution design
  • Work within a formal full development lifecycle process
  • Create and document software designs using SOLID principles and performance engineering knowledge
  • Collaborate with agile team members and subject-matter experts to implement designs
  • Provide code and supporting documentation according to coding guidelines, quality processes, procedures, and the team's definition of DONE
  • Collaborate with the agile team to create automated and manual tests
  • Provide work estimates and tracking information for management planning and decisions
  • Drive continuous improvement of software quality, processes, and individual skills
  • Contribute to application architecture with focus on scalability, maintainability, security, and performance
  • Provide product-specific and technical support to internal and external users
  • Participate in team meetings and ceremonies with other sites, providing feedback and taking ownership of improvements
  • Participate in formal and informal learning, knowledge-sharing activities, training, and demos
  • Work with management to evaluate current systems and make design decisions for future development
  • Learn emerging technologies and resolve integration problems
  • Collaborate globally in a fast-paced agile environment and participate in technical discussions, designs, presentations, and idea sharing

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • 5+ years of experience developing Windows desktop applications
  • C# and/or other .NET programming experience
  • Basic experience applying technical standards
  • Windows Desktop experience with WinForms, WPF, XAML, and .NET Framework
  • Experience working in heavily multi-threaded environments
  • Familiarity with Java programming languages for touchscreen application development
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies
  • Communication, teamwork, analysis, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to quickly learn emerging technologies and resolve technology integration problems
  • Bachelor's Degree in computer science or computer engineering preferred, or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  • Preferred experience in an analytical instrumentation domain
  • Networking and TCP/IP communication experience preferred
  • Experience interfacing with embedded devices preferred
  • Passion for software design and ability to discuss software design topics based on experience, reading, and experimentation
